Mobile Devices and Digital Forensics Volunteer National

Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing mobile devices for spyware indicators, account compromise, and unauthorised access
  • Distinguishing between malicious software (e.g. stalkerware) and misuse of legitimate device features
  • Evaluating tools and methodologies within strict safety parameters
  • Avoiding actions that may alert perpetrators prior to safe intervention
  • Translating findings into clear, practical, and non-alarming guidance
  • Supporting survivor-led decision-making by presenting options
  • Identifying and escalating high-risk scenarios in line with organisational protocols
  • Contributing to the development of safe, repeatable workflows and playbooks
  • Participating in peer review processes to ensure quality, safety and consistency

This role conducts safety-led assessments of mobile devices to identify risks relating to spyware, unauthorised access, and technology-facilitated abuse, providing practical, survivor-led guidance within strict safeguarding protocols. Work is conducted as safety-led analysis. Not legal or criminal forensics.
